Chiropractic Training – What It Entails

By CarolAnn Bailey-Lloyd Find Chiropractic Training in the United States and Canada. If youre one of the many interested students in search of alternative healthcare education, then a chiropractic training program may be an ideal option for you. Today, many chiropractic training programs, including undergraduate, graduate and doctor of chiropractic courses are accessible to applicants in a variety of chiropractic schools across North America. In many cases, students may apply for scholarships, financial aid and student loans to acquire this education (including federal Pell grants, and federal Stafford loans); however, it is essential that students review prospective chiropractic training programs as most chiropractic colleges and universities require prerequisite education from a traditional college or school. Undergraduate studies offered through a number of chiropractic training courses include bachelor degree programs in biology, business, nutrition, psychology and related subjects of study. Graduate studies through chiropractic training courses may involve masters programs in chiropractic sports science, exercise and fitness, and other associated topics. Most chiropractic training programs offer pre-chiropractic courses (for those who have not yet achieved basic enrollment requirements), and doctor of chiropractic training as well. The doctor of chiropractic training course entails an extensive curriculum. Students participating in this particular course of study will gain immeasurable knowledge and skills in how to take patient histories, perform physical and neuromuscular examinations, assess patients psychological state, effectively communicate, clinically diagnose, apply critical thinking and problem resolution, manage casework, educate patients, and manage business. Additionally, practical chiropractic training will include learning about nutrition, chiropractic history and philosophy, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, radiology, pathology, microbiology, diagnostic imaging, chiropractic technique and procedures, and other elective courses. In most cases, to successfully complete chiropractic training, the student must have acquired a minimum of 4,200 hours classroom hours and internship. Most chiropractic training programs, however, are longer than the required minimum, and can be completed in as little as 4 years for full-time programs, and up to 8 years for part-time* studies (not all chiropractic schools offer part-time coursework). Once students have achieved chiropractic training and have graduated from one of several accredited chiropractic colleges or universities, it is important to recognize that most states require licensure in this field, and to maintain licensure, chiropractic practitioners must receive annual continuing education courses. If you (or someone you know) are interested in finding quality chiropractic training, let career training within fast-growing industries like massage therapy, cosmetology, acupuncture, oriental medicine, Reiki, and others get you started! Boosting Your Bottom Line: The 9 Keys to Marketing Success

By Kim Nishida Are you a small business owner whos just getting started or a veteran who is eager to review the basics and generate more income through effective marketing? Walk through these 9 keys and turn your dread of marketing into a passion. 1. Craft your vision statement: Answer the question, Why does my company exist? This is the heart and soul of your organization and the platform from which you should make every decision be it marketing, product development, or customer service related. 2. Identify your ideal client: Take a hard look again at why youre in business in the first place. Then identify whos really going to want what youre selling. Whos going to understand exactly where youre coming from and jump at the chance to do business with you? If you can identify those quality consumers, you will have a much easier time finding them. 3. Target your SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats): The first two components are internal–whats going on inside of you and your company. The last two areas are external or the outside forces you must consider. There are unlimited applications for the SWOT exercise. 4. Ask, What makes my company unique? Why should anyone do business with you as opposed to your numerous competitors? Consider how you make decisions when faced with a choice between similar products from different manufacturers. How do you decide which car or soda to buy? Remember, each potential client asks the same question when they consider buying from you. How do you stand out? If Starbucks just sold cups of coffee, they would not have become the dominant force they are today. 5. Expand your possibilities: Think BIG. A gold fish will only grow as large as its environment allows. Slip the fish into a bigger bowl and watch it grow. The same is true of your marketing plan. Think conservatively and small and your business is likely to remain that way. Dare to dream and think large. You will never reach the big goal if you think its not possible. 6. Hone your goals & tactics: Using your vision statement as a compass point, ask what goals do you need to achieve in order to reach your vision? Remember to set SMART goals (specific, measurable, action-oriented, realistic, time sensitive). Once you have them all listed, ask, If I accomplish every single one of these goals, will that guarantee success? If the answer is not a resounding Yes! keep adding goals until you are satisfied. Next, break each goal down into the specific steps or tactics necessary to accomplish each goal. Ask, If I finish every listed tactic will I reach this goal? If the answer is no, keep breaking it down to the last detail. 7. Set your priorities: Once youve got your goals and tactics in place you have got to put them in order. Write each one out on a separate piece of paper and shuffle them around. Look at each one and ask, How important is this to my success in the next 3 months? Use the ABCDE method of prioritization. Sort them in groups of As, Bs, and Cs, based on importance. Ds are anything you can delegate. Es are anything you can eliminate. Next, prioritize within each group: A1, A2, A3. Finally, get to work. Even though you might be tempted, dont move on to the Bs until you have completed all the A tasks. 8. Take action: One of the most critical steps in any marketing plan is to get your hands dirty and get started. The marketing plan that never reaches the public will net you zero sales. Learn to embrace the notion of failure as feedback on how to get it right. With this attitude, any setback becomes an opportunity to fine tune your plan and make it better. A parting anonymous quote: Failing quickly is at least better than failing slowly. 9. Be consistent and patient: Without these two pieces of the puzzle, your marketing plan is doomed to failure. Create a marketing plan that covers the next 12, 24, and 36 months. Once you have taken the time to unlock doors with the first 8 keys, use consistency and patience to broadcast your message to your customers. A client might need to encounter your message a minimum of 9 times before he/she is ready to buy. Therefore, understand that you will never know whether your plan is working within the first 60 days. Practice patience. Not enough clients for your small business? Kim Nishida, author of the innovative program Conception to Completion helps you realize your full potential. Gay Breakups: When the Rainbow Ends

By Brian Rzepczynski Introduction It just hit me out of the blue when Mike left me. We hadnt really been together all that long, but I thought Id finally found my true soul mate. Now its over and I feel totally rejected, like nobodys ever going to want me again. Its so hard finding a decent guy and now I have to start all over again; I dont know if I can. I feel like a failure at relationships. I just dont know what to do. –Eric Steve and I broke up after eight years together. The house feels so empty without him and the pain can be so unbearable at times. The loneliness is the worst part for me and its like theres this big hole inside of me, this nagging hurt that wont go away. I think about him all the time and wonder if Im ever going to get over him. Ive never felt more alone and confused in my life. –Josh The ending of a relationship, for whatever reason, can be one of the most painful experiences that we can go through. Having made ourselves vulnerable by opening our hearts to another and loving him to the fullest capacity almost feels spiritual; now its been replaced with a crushing sense of loss and emptiness that feels quite devastating. The length of time together, the quality of the relationship, and the level of emotional investment in it all determine the intensity of the grief experienced when you and your lover part ways. This article will explore the grieving process involved with relationship breakups and offer tips and strategies for facilitating your grief to move you toward healing so you can start your life over on better footing. The Grieving Experience The experience of breaking up with a boyfriend or partner can be likened to a death, with layer upon layer of losses resulting. Not only is his absent physical presence felt as a loss, but other losses like hopes, dreams, expectations, identity, security, and trust compound and complicate your adjustment. Life as you knew it has been shaken and your vision for your future has been altered. You experience a roller-coaster of emotions. Its common to feel rejected, abandoned, insecure, powerless, and hopeless. Confusion and feeling a sense of failure and regret are common, as well as varying degrees of anger, depression, and guilt. You might even become preoccupied with your ex-lover, obsessing about him and thinking constantly about your life together and what he might be doing now. In her book, Healing A Broken Heart(1997), Nancy Joy Carroll, ED.D outlines four stages of relationship loss that are common in the aftermath of a breakup. They include the following: Stage 1: Shock & Denial: This usually occurs immediately after the split-up. You might feel numb, believe that this cant be happening and minimize the reality of the situation. You feel sad, angry, confused, and might blame yourself. Stage 2: Despair: You begin to see that the ending is inevitable and experience profound sadness, loneliness, depression, and impaired concentration. You might try to bargain with your partner to try to convince him to give the relationship another chance. You idealize your partner. You feel unlovable, wondering if you can make it on your own, and feel a loss of identity. Stage 3: Detachment: Anger becomes more pronounced and you begin to hold your partner more responsible for the relationship split. This stage is particularly helpful as your anger helps to create some distance for you from him and youre not as enmeshed. Stage 4: Recovery: In this final stage, you come to an acceptance of the loss and learn to let go, redefining yourself as a single man again and feel more empowered to cultivate new experiences and opportunities for personal growth. Tips Along the Grief Path You are going through a major shift in your identity. Be patient and kind with yourself as you journey through the grieving process. Keep these tips in mind as you forage through the pain youre experiencing to prevent any blocks or impediments along the path of healing. It can be a rocky road, but staying focused and conscious will promote a smoother and more successful transition to the new you. Everyone grieves at their own rate and pace; theres no timeline, so dont rush yourself. It can sometimes take years. As you go through the stages of loss, be aware that healing is not linear. Expect to progress up and down through the stages. Endure through it. Avoid stuffing your feelings; be open to them no matter how much it hurts. Suppressing your emotions only puts a temporary band-aid on your suffering and prolongs your healing. Its ok to cry. Avoid self-medicating your feelings. Beware of alcohol, drugs, gambling, work, food, sex, or other vices to comfort yourself during this difficult time. These can distract from your grieving work and become addictions. Depression and anxiety are common emotions during this time period. Should their experience interfere with your daily functioning or accomplishment of daily tasks, seek assistance from a license mental health therapist. Earlier losses and unfinished business from the past can be triggered when you encounter relationship loss. Be prepared to deal with these as well. Avoid making major life decisions. Allow yourself time to get more grounded and centered first. Grief can have a tricky way of clouding our judgment if not careful. Avoid jumping into another relationship right away. Grieve this one completely first. Ignore others attempts to tell you how you should feel or that you should be over it by now. They didnt live your experience and they are typically projecting their own discomfort with loss and grief. Avoid being friends with your ex initially. Its common for gay men to remain friends with their ex-boyfriends; decide for yourself if this is something that you would be able to do, and if so, allow yourself some time and space first to grieve. It can be very difficult to transition from life partner to just friends immediately after a breakup. You need time to heal to be able to appropriately view your ex in a new role. Additional Healing Tips & Strategies Provide a daily structure for yourself to keep grounded. Stay busy, but not too busy that you get distracted from your emotional work. Get connected with others. Surround yourself with positive, supportive friends and get engaged with life, no matter how hard it is. Join a grief support group in your area to be with others who can share similar circumstances with you and normalize your grief. Find a renewed sense of purpose and passion. Join an organization or a cause you care about, take a class, cultivate a new hobby, get involved! Bring healthy pleasure into your life. Learn to be comfortable being alone. Do some self-soothing and nurturing activities. Find value in self-renewal. Take this opportunity to learn more about yourself. Work with a life coach to help you learn about healthy relationships and crafting a new vision for your future. Recognize patterns in your relationships and identify areas where you can improve your relationship skills. Challenge negative self-talk by replacing with more enhancing, affirming, coping thoughts. Identify your strengths and value to boost your self-esteem. Use the power of affirmations and write them on index cards for quick reference. Remove items that remind you of your ex-lover and tuck them away somewhere so theyre not a constant visual trigger for you. There will come a time when they wont be so jarring to you. Create a ritual of closure for your relationship (eg. throw a Im moving on party with close friends, etc.) Find a way to commemorate the relationship and what it meant to you to aid in letting go. Create a scrapbook or collage of memories of your relationship when youre ready. Release your feelings productively. Take out several sheets of paper and at the top of each write an emotion you feel (sad, angry, hurt, resentful, etc.). Then down the side of the full length of the paper, write I feel and fill in the blank about that particular emotion to release all the feelings you have regarding that as it pertains to your relationship grief. Do some self-soothing afterwards. Keep a journal or write your ex-lover a letter sharing your feelings and what the relationship meant to you, etc. DO NOT SEND THIS TO YOUR EX! This is for your therapeutic benefit only. Or talk to an empty chair pretending your ex is sitting there and practice processing your emotions this way. This can be extremely cathartic. Conclusion Breaking up is hard to do, as an old song once put it. Realize that your pain is a tribute to the significance that this relationship held for you and that you are a survivor. How you choose to deal with the breakup will impact the direction of your life and how soon you will be able to rebuild your life. Identify healthy outlets that you can channel your feelings toward, pinpoint potential blocks that could get in the way of your healing process, and allow yourself to be open to love again when youre ready. A new beginning with opportunity and possibility awaits you on the other side of the rainbow. Reference: Carroll, Nancy Joy. Healing A Broken Heart: A Recovery Handbook for Relationship Loss. Diet And Weight Loss Is Not A Part Time Job – It Takes Full Time Commitment

By Chris Bower A question I received via Email about losing weight. She asked why the weight isnt coming off. I’m doing all the right stuff, eating the right foods. The question I asked, are you doing all the right stuff and eating all the right foods all the time? Losing weight is so much more difficult them keeping the weight off. Losing weight has to become a way of life. Im not talking about the person that wants to lose 10 pounds, Im referring to losing 30 or more pounds. Weight loss has to become a passion. Two examples I can give. One is the person that loves to paint. Paints anytime they have free time, reads about painting, dreams about painting, you get the picture. The second is a recovering alcoholic. They didnt become a recovering alcoholic by letting nature take its course or by not drinking every once in a while. It became a passion, a need to stay sober. To guarantee success in weight loss, you will need to have this same sort of determination. You have to wake up every morning with weight loss being the first thing on your mind. Nothing is more important then weight loss. This does not mean that you throw all other responsibilities out the window, but you will need to make sure that all of them work around your main goal of weight loss. Its tuff to stay as focused as you need to in order to lose weight. There is so much pressure to do quite the opposite. Fast food is everywhere you turn, and time is in short supply. Friends want you to lose focus by asking you over for dinner or wanting to go to a restaurant. The television is just sitting there, begging to be turned on. If you live in a large metropolitan area, you may not feel safe going for a walk in the evening after work. I call these, weight loss failing pressures As I wrote earlier, you need to stay focused and committed to your goal. Dont let any one, or and thing stand in your way. I have heard may people talk about not having the time it takes to be prepared to face the daily weight loss failing pressures like the ones I mentioned earlier. Things like preparing food for lunch and snacks, going to the gym and so on. Heres what it comes down to. Lets look at your clothes closet. In the beginning you can add more and more clothing without any problems of it becoming to full. Eventually, however the inevitable will happen and you can no longer fit any more clothing on the rack. You will need to go through and get rid of the clothes that are not as important to you as the new ones you just bought. Another Idea is to reorganize to make better use of the space you have. Your time is the same way. You will need to eliminate something that is less important the loosing weight, or reorganize the time you have to facilitate the weight loss program. If you are at all like me, you have already organized and reorganized every which way, so more then likely, you will need to drop something off your schedule. Lets keep in mind, like I said at the beginning, weight loss is much harder then weight maintenance. What this means, is once the weight is off, you should be able to start doing what ever it was you eliminated to make time available for your weigh lose program. I have seen so many people make the commitment to loosing weight, and yet they still fail. Of the ones that where determined the most, it came down to one of two things One being they didnt have good information on how to do it, and the second, they didnt make the time commitment that was needed for success. How to Get a Used Car Loan with No Credit – 3 Things to Know

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=L._Sampson]L. Sampson Every 18-year-old who has ever tried to get a loan for a new car will tell you that its hard to get approved for a car loan with no credit. Its even more difficult if you are applying for a used car loan because used car loans represent more of a risk to a lender. However, getting approved for a used car loan with no credit isnt impossible. This article discusses three things to keep in mind when shopping for a used car loan with no credit: Consider a Co-Signer The best way to ensure that youll get approved for a used car loan is to have someone with good credit co-sign on the loan. The lender will list their name first, and that is the person whose credit they will consider when they send the loan to a loan officer to approve or decline it. However, youll want to make sure that you pay your payments on time because your loan goes onto both yours and your co-signers credit report. Have a Parent Add Your Name to Their Credit Card One of the quickest ways to get credit is to have your parent add your name to their good-credit-reflecting credit cards. This will automatically transfer all of their timely payments to your credit report, therefore giving you good credit. If that parent is not willing to co-sign for you, this may be the next best alternative. This will allow you to appear as though you have some established credit. Borrow Less Than the Car Is Worth When you dont have any credit, lenders are going to want to make sure that, even if you dont pay your loan, they can resale the car and get their money back. For this reason, its important that you take out a loan for less than the cars appraised amount. For example, if the car youre buying is worth $10,000, youll want to borrow less than that amount. Usually that means making a significant down payment. Making a down payment makes you less of a risk to a borrower, therefore improving your chances of being approved. Natural Gardens

By Tim Hallinan Natural gardens utilize native species of plants which are often quite easy to grow. These plants have adapted to certain site conditions and are generally self sustaining. They’ll need little, if any, fertilizer and no more water than is provided by rain. Natural gardens consist of a rich and varied mix of plants. They introduce a diversity of trees, shrubs and perennials not found in some gardens. Natural gardens also provide a garden with a sense of place. Its often difficult to distinguish a garden in New York from one in Washington even though their landscapes and climates are completely different. Lawns are one the most common garden features in the landscape but turf grasses are rarely a natural occurrence. While some lawn is preferable, consider introducing wildflowers into a portion of your existing lawn. Wildflower meadows are noted for their stability, low maintenance and wide diversity of plants resulting in vibrant colors, textures and an increased awareness of seasonal change. The meadow approach to the landscape requires a clear understanding of a site’s natural conditions, more so than say a formal perennial garden bed. Wildflower meadows are a constantly changing landscape with some species surviving year after year while others may disappear and be replaced with something new. Along with these aesthetic benefits there are ecological benefits as well, including the reduced need for mowing, the creation of a habitat for native species of animals and the fact that wildflower meadows are very effective at trapping airborne pollutants. In woodland settings, gardens which emphasize the natural conditions of the forest are easy to maintain and provide the landscape with a variety of plants. In the spring, perennials and bulbs bloom profusely in the dappled shade beneath deciduous trees which have yet to develop leaves. In the shadier conditions of summer, the spring floral display gives way to perennials and shrubs with rich varied foliage. In the fall, after the colorful leaves drop to the ground, a second bloom will often brighten up the garden. Many native species of trees have winter characteristics which are often overlooked. The form of some trees, such as the birch or ironwood, is quite striking. Woodland gardens also provide a shady respite from the hot afternoon sun of summer. Natural gardens are not limited to country settings, they can be established in urban environments as well. A small urban lot can be transformed in to a garden which resembles the natural environment of the surrounding countryside. Planting a tree which creates dappled shade will allow a gardener to plant many native species of woodland perennials or, in sunnier spots, summer blooming wildflowers. Small native shrubs can also be used. The soft lines and lushness of a natural garden can be a welcome contrast to the consistent geometry of the city. In suburban areas, potions of vast lawns can be transformed into meadows. If youre not ready to give up your more traditional garden complete just yet but would like to add variety to your landscape, consider incorporating native perennials or native shrub species into your existing flower and shrub borders. Gardens which mimic the existing landscape or incorporate native plants are successful because theyre easy to maintain and will thrive even in the most extreme conditions. Theyve adapted to do so. Planting a natural garden can help restore the landscape, attract a variety of bird species and provide the garden with a wonderful mix of under utilized, interesting plants. Christians Reject “Palestine” for the Promised Land of Israel

By David Ben-Ariel I remember taking issue with The Philadelphia Trumpet magazine’s frequent use of the term “Palestine” when they were referring to the Holy Land of Israel. Both Gerald Flurry, editor-in-chief of The Philadelphia Trumpet, and his son, Stephen Flurry were guilty of using the loaded term of “Palestine.” Gerald Flurry quoted Shmuel Schnitzer lamenting the new Jewish people who are “preparing to deny our [Jewish] rights, both the divine promise and in terms of REFERRING TO THE LAND BY THE NAME OF ITS PEOPLE, “The Land of Israel’ — a land which belongs to the Children of Israel, from then and to eternity…” [emphasis mine] and then, himself, continues in “Israel’s Lost Vision” blind to his own hypocrisy, “Let’s look back at Palestine’s recent history.” Yes, let’s look at what name GOD gave the land as an inheritance of all Twelve Tribes of Israel. GOD named it after our patriarch ISRAEL. Satan inspired the Romans to mock God and dishonor our Father by attempting to erase Israel’s name off the map! “They have said, ‘Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more’” (Psalms 83:4). Why join with the enemies of God and Israel? Why give credence to an ILLEGITIMATE name? God forbid Israel ever becomes “Palestine”! Since I truly believe they wanted to go by the Bible, I encouraged them to do so and properly refer to the Land of Israel by its GOD ORDAINED NAME — Israel! In fact, I made a public issue of it only after I saw they persisted in their error by writing “An Open Letter to Stephen Flurry Concerning ‘Palestine’” in the November/December 1996 issue of The National Messenger. It appears they now refer to “Judah” or “Israel (biblical Judah)” instead of the accursed “Palestine.” Hallelujah!
